Everything you need to know about TV bed assembly, warranties and after-sales service
TV beds are an excellent addition to any bedroom.
With a motorised lift, integrated speakers, and built-in technical features, it's understandable if it all seems a bit daunting before it arrives – especially the thought of putting it together.
The good news is, though, whilst they look complex to put together, it's totally manageable with the right preparation, and most TV beds go together smoothly.
In this guide, our experts at TV Bed walk you through everything you need to know once you've placed your order – from how to prepare for assembly to what your warranty covers and how to get support if something isn't right.
What to expect when your TV bed arrives
Your TV bed will arrive in multiple boxes – typically three or four, depending on the model – so don't be alarmed when the delivery team turns up with what looks like half a furniture warehouse!
Each box contains a different section of the bed: the headboard, footboard, side rails, and any additional components like the ottoman base.
Before the delivery team leaves, make sure to check each box for any signs of damage, and if anything looks wrong, make a note of it on the delivery paperwork before signing. If you notice anything after the team has left, make sure to report it as soon as possible. The sooner it's reported, the sooner it can be resolved.
Top tip: if you can, have the delivery team bring the boxes through to the rooms where the bed will be built. The boxes are heavy and can be awkward to manoeuvre, and assembling in situ saves a lot of time and effort. Clarify the room beforehand, and make sure you have a good amount of floor space to lay out the parts and work comfortably.
Before you start: tools, space, and preparation
Before you get started, make sure you have:
- A Phillips screwdriver – For securing wood screws, media trays, and cable clips.
- Allen keys – Most models come with Allen keys, which are needed to tighten the main frame bolts.
- A tape measure – Essential for ensuring parts are centred, especially when aligning the TV bracket.
- A spanner or wrench – Needed for tightening specific nuts (such as M8 nuts on the frame or gas-lift pistons on ottoman frames).
- Cable management accessories – Cable ties and adhesive clips are sometimes provided to manage the TV's power and HDMI leads safely.
First, before picking up a single tool, make sure to read through the TV bed instructions provided from start to finish, to save you from having to backtrack mid-build.
When it comes to space, aim to clear a working area of roughly 2.5 meters by 2.5 meters in the room where the bed will go. Assembling in the final location is always the better option, as the bed is significantly easier to move in pieces than once it's built.
Finally, recruit a second pair of hands. A TV bed is a two-person build, and several steps – like lifting the headboard and footboard into position – require two people
Choosing between self-assembly and professional installation
If you'd rather skip doing this altogether, we offer a professional installation service for £99.
We'll deliver your bed to your room of choice and build it from start to finish, ready for you to enjoy a restful night's sleep!
How to assemble a TV bed frame
Prep and outer frame
First, unpack the boxes and organise the different parts into logical groups – headboard, footboard, side rails, slats, and the hardware.
Then, connect the frame by loosely screwing the side rails into the headboard and footboard, but don't fully tighten the screws at this stage.
If your bed had a centre rail, attach the adjustable support legs, drop the rail into place, and adjust the feet so they hover 5-10mm off the floor to prevent squeaking.
Cable routing
Once your frame is screwed together, it's time to plan your wires. Route all cables (power, HDMI, and audio) through the internal channels before you lock everything in place.
Then, using cable ties or adhesive clips, secure your wires to hold them out of the way and ensure they don't get pinched by any moving parts.
Mounting the TV
Unpack your TV and remove the standard stand if it has one attached, and loosen the adjustor bolts on the TV vertical mounting bar to adjust it to the specific height of your TV.
To attach the TV, raise the internal lift mechanism to its highest position, and with one person stabilising it, align the back of your TV carefully with the mounting plate and secure it with the provided fixings.
Finally, plug in your HDMI, power cable, and audio cables if applicable, and you're done!
Slats and base
Insert the wooden slats into the end caps on the side rails and clip the single-ended caps into the centre rail, ensuring the curve of the slats faces upwards.
Lastly, square up to the entire frame, fully tighten your bolts, and connect your cables to the main wall outlet to test the mechanism before putting your mattress on.
To ensure your mattress stays in place, secure the mattress stoppers provided so that it doesn't slip and slide out of place when operating the ottoman lift.
Understanding your TV bed warranty
Every bed we sell here at TV Bed comes with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty from the date of delivery.
Depending on the nature of the issue, this can range from a self-fit replacement part sent directly to you by post to a full-service engineer visit, so the level of support you'll receive will always be matched to what the problem actually requires.
Manufacturing defects and component failures under normal domestic use are automatically covered in your policy. However, accidental damage, liquid damage, and general wear and tear are not.
We also offer a 5-year structural warranty, which is included in our optional fabric furniture care kit for £49.

If something isn't right with your TV bed within the first 12 months, the process is very straightforward. All you have to do is send us an email with your full name and order number, delivery address and contact details, a clear description of the issue, and photos wherever possible.
